A former footy star from the NRL is taking legal action against the game's insurer, claiming he should have been covered by a policy that includes paralysis.

The court showdown between ex-NRL player Ethan Lowe and Lloyd's of London has revealed footage of the tough forward enjoying some post-footy activities like jet skiing and dancing, despite alleging a serious and permanent injury from a career-ending tackle.

Known for his tough playing style, Mr.

Lowe made a name for himself during his eight-year stint in the NRL and even earned a spot in the State of Origin team in 2019.

However, at the age of 29, his rugby league career came to an abrupt end when he suffered a severe spinal injury during a game against the Newcastle Knights.

The legal dispute in the Federal Court revolves around whether Mr.

Lowe meets the criteria for paralysis as outlined in the insurance policy, which Lloyd's of London has denied him.

The insurer has also brought up the possibility that a previous injury may have contributed to Mr.

Lowe's current condition.

This legal stoush between a former footy star and a major insurer highlights the tough and competitive nature of professional sports, where even off-field battles can be just as intense as those on the field.
