Pat Richards Returns to Wests Tigers

Pat Richards, the legendary Wests Tigers winger, is making a welcomed return to his former club as a senior manager.

Having played a pivotal role in clinching the 2005 premiership, Richards is joining other club legends, with Wide World of Sports indicating that he will collaborate closely with coach Benji Marshall and the team moving forward.

The Tigers have brought back former stars from their successful mid-2000s era, including Marshall, John Skandalis, Brett Hodgson, and Chris Heighington, all contributing to the club's future.

Over his illustrious career, Richards recorded 384 appearances in both the NRL and Super League, highlighted by the iconic flick-pass try in the 2005 Grand Final, a memorable moment set up by Marshall.

Across 16 years spent in two hemispheres, he amassed an impressive tally of 242 tries and over 3000 points while playing for the Tigers, Wigan Warriors, Catalans Dragons, and the Parramatta Eels.

His outstanding 2005 season saw him score 20 tries in 28 matches, including a crucial one in the grand finale.

Richards' return is expected to reinforce the club's culture and drive the playing group toward the positive direction that Marshall envisions.

He initially rejoined the Tigers in 2014 on a two-year contract after a remarkable international career, adding 43 more games and an additional 342 points to his tally. His last appearance in the club's colors occurred during the 2020 Nines tournament in Perth.
