Roger Tuivasa-Sheck, star player for the New Zealand Warriors, has played his final game of the season, and possibly his last in the NRL.

The ex-Golden Boot recipient suffered an injury early on in the match against the St George Illawarra Dragons, where he went down in the 11th minute after attempting to make a tackle.

Concerns arose that he may have damaged his ACL when he had to exit the field, and he later confirmed on social media that his season has come to an end.

"That's my footy done this year..," Tuivasa-Sheck stated on Instagram.

"ACL confirmed. Tough to accept, but the season goes on. We got something special going. Big love for all the messages. #upthewahs"

He is set to move to Wakefield Trinity in the Super League at the conclusion of this season, and given that he is 32, a return to the NRL seems unlikely.

Tuivasa-Sheck had only just returned from a minor AC joint issue before this significant injury occurred in Kogarah.

The Warriors, currently performing well and sitting in second place in the standings, received this news at a challenging point in the season.

Next up, the Warriors will face the Penrith Panthers in a crucial match, with both teams vying for two important points during the key Origin period.
