The Brisbane Tigers' 2023 season has come to a bittersweet end as they went down 42-22 to a strong South Sydney outfit in the NRL State Championship game on Sunday.
Despite their loss, the Tigers had a memorable season in the Hostplus Cup, where they scored the third most points out of any team.
Their attack was in top form, showing their ability to score from all areas of the field.
The Tigers had shown their resilience in the previous fortnight when they held on for a thrilling 22-18 win over the Burleigh Bears.
This win allowed them to go head-to-head with the NSW Cup Premiers in the NRL State Championship.
However, they were unable to replicate their heroics and fell short against the strong South Sydney team.
The Tigers had the support of seven Storm contracted players on Grand Final Day, as they suited up for the team just two weeks after breaking the club's 32-year premiership drought.
Among these players, young talents Joe Chan, Tristan Powell, and Jonah Pezet impressed in their first and second seasons respectively.
Experienced winger George Jennings had a standout season on the wing for the Tigers, scoring an impressive 13 tries from his 15 appearances in 2023.
His contribution added firepower to the team's attack throughout the season.
Although the Tigers' season ended in defeat, they can still take pride in their achievements and the progress they made during the Hostplus Cup.
They will now look to regroup and build on their successes for the upcoming seasons.
