Iszac Fa'asuamaleaui has secured a new team for the remainder of the 2026 season after departing from the English Super League, joining the Ipswich Jets in the QLD Cup.
The forward has inked a one-year agreement with the Catalans Dragons for 2026 and is set to move to the Perth Bears for their inaugural season starting in 2027.
However, his time in France was cut short as his father was diagnosed with cancer for the second time, prompting Iszac to return home to support him and his family.
The Catalans organization expressed their full support for Fa'asuamaleaui's decision to leave due to these personal circumstances.
The Ipswich Jets have confirmed his signing for the remainder of the season.
The Jets are affiliated with the Gold Coast Titans, the club of Tino, Iszac's brother, meaning there's a possibility he could be elevated to an NRL spot before the June 30 deadline if the Titans choose to do so.
If injuries affect the team later in the year, he might also get his chance for an NRL appearance under a pathways contract with necessary dispensation from the NRL.
The 24-year-old from Gympie has played ten matches for the Catalans Dragons during his brief tenure, along with 28 games for the Gold Coast Titans from his debut in 2023 until he left the club at the end of 2025.
His father, Fereti, was previously a contracted player with the Sydney Roosters in the 1990s.
Tino, who shared earlier this week that he is spending every moment he can with his father, has also appointed Moeaki Fotuaika to share co-captaincy duties at Parkwood. He has postponed his travel to Melbourne with the Queensland squad for Game 2 of the State of Origin series, choosing to stay with his father.
