In the picturesque grounds of Sedbergh, a school renowned for its breathtaking beauty, rugby takes center stage.

As the pupils trade their green tweed blazers for sports kits, one can't help but be reminded of the iconic scenes from Dead Poets Society.

Nestled between the Yorkshire Dales and the Lake District, Sedbergh proudly proclaims itself as "England's book town," but the manicured pitches that dominate the landscape leave no doubt that this is rugby territory.

Under the watchful gaze of the Howgill Fells, 40 sixth-form students split into forwards and backs, honing their skills on state-of-the-art facilities that would make professional clubs envious.

The commitment to rugby at Sedbergh is unwavering, with four afternoons a week dedicated to the sport, forging a breeding ground for professional players.

Dating back to 1879, Sedbergh School Football Club, affectionately known as The Brown, has churned out a remarkable number of future rugby stars.

This small rural paradise rivals the world's biggest club academies, producing talents who grace the fields of Europe's top leagues.

The secret to their success lies in the school's full boarding system, where rugby permeates every aspect of the students' lives.

Under the guidance of Simon Mulholland, a veteran of 11 seasons as the school's director of rugby, Sedbergh has continuously produced an impressive array of players.

While modest about their achievements, Mulholland believes they rank among the top schools in terms of professional player production.

Rugby is not just a game at Sedbergh; it's a way of life.

The school's alumni proudly represent their nations, with Old Sedberghians donning the national jerseys of England, Scotland, Wales, and Ireland.

Their influence is felt across European leagues, a testament to the school's commitment to nurturing talent on and off the field.

As the towering white posts dot the Sedbergh skyline, it's clear that this is a place where rugby reigns supreme.

Amidst the stunning landscapes and rich history, the school's dedication to the sport ensures that its students are well-prepared to leave their mark on the world of rugby.

Sedbergh is truly a special place where future stars are made.
