Storm secures forward for the long haul

In a move that has fans cheering like a try in the last minute of a grand final, the Melbourne Storm have secured the talents of one of their star forwards on a fresh long-term deal.

According to the folks over at zerotackle.com, Joe Chan, who has yet to taste defeat in his 11 NRL appearances, has inked a contract extension with the Storm that will keep him in the purple and gold jersey until at least the end of the 2028 season.

Expected to add another game to his record this weekend as the team shuffles their lineup against the North Queensland Cowboys, Chan has made a name for himself over the past year, rising from reserve grade to the big leagues like a phoenix from the ashes.

In a twist of fate that could only happen in the world of rugby league, Chan is now part of a rare father-son combo at the Storm, following in the footsteps of his dad, Alex Chan, who once donned the same jersey for two seasons.

"It's a ripper opportunity that the club has thrown my way, and getting a new contract shows me they have some fair dinkum faith in me and my hard yakka is paying off," Chan said in a statement released by the club.
