Broncos Shakeup: Mam's Benchings Sparks Speculation

Broncos coach spills on playmaker’s shock demotion, responds to star’s ‘BS’ remark

Broncos head coach Michael Maguire has shed light on the surprising decision to bench Brisbane playmaker Ezra Mam for the upcoming Queensland derby against the Gold Coast Titans.

The move, which has sparked significant discussion, was confirmed by Maguire to be based solely on performance.

The struggling Mam was dropped to the bench prior to Saturday's matchup in Brisbane, with young talent Thomas Duffy now stepping in to team up with Adam Reynolds in the halves.

This decision follows a difficult period for the reigning champions, who find themselves in 11th place on the NRL ladder after enduring four straight losses, including a narrow defeat against the Dragons last weekend.

"We all have the same belief and we know what they're capable of, but ultimately, at the end of the day, you've got to find it," Maguire stated during his Friday morning press conference.

"We've had moments over the last couple of months where we've seen that, but it's about being consistent, so that's something there that we've got to get very quickly."
