Cameron McInnes to Depart Sharks for Knights

Cameron McInnes, a player known for his inspirational leadership, will part ways with the Cronulla Sharks following the conclusion of the season after months of speculation regarding his future.

According to the Daily Telegraph, McInnes has finalized terms with the York City Knights in the Super League for the 2027 season.

Despite interest from the Perth Bears, McInnes has opted to take his career to England after a commendable NRL tenure that has been marred by injury setbacks.

Mark Applegarth, the head coach of the Knights, addressed the media last week about the acquisition of McInnes.

"Cam is a quality player and I think anyone that has followed rugby league for the last few years would know that," said Applegarth.

"Is he a player that I'd be interested in? 100 per cent he is, not only for what he can do on the field but I think culturally with the standards that a player like that sets for himself."

This year, McInnes made a remarkable comeback from an ACL injury sustained at the end of the previous season.

The Sharks have put forth a succession plan featuring Jesse Colquhoun, who stepped in during McInnes' injury and recently secured a four-year extension with the club in January.

With his notable NSW Blues representative experience, McInnes aims to leverage his leadership abilities to assist the Knights in their pursuit of a title in the English Super League.
