Daly Cherry-Evans in the hot seat as NRL clubs left seething over State of Origin bans

The rugby league world is buzzing with confusion as to why NSW were the only ones to cop suspensions in the aftermath of the recent State of Origin clash.

Daly Cherry-Evans has been fingered as the instigator of the ugly on-field brawl that saw NSW players Haumole Olakau'atu and Cameron Murray slapped with two-match bans.

Olakau'atu and Murray swiftly accepted their punishments, but both South Sydney and Manly clubs are up in arms over the situation.

Olakau'atu, who wasn't even supposed to be on the field in his civilian clothes, and Murray, who was just itching to get into the game, found themselves in the heat of the melee that spilled over the sidelines.

Murray bravely charged towards the scuffle to defend his teammates, only to be met by a sea of Queensland opposition players, with only two from NSW in sight.

Despite not officially being on the pitch at the time, Murray felt the full force of the NRL's disciplinary action.

The suspensions of Olakau'atu and Murray couldn't have come at a worse time for the Sea Eagles and Rabbitohs, jeopardizing their performance in upcoming matches.

Calls for a break in the NRL season during the Origin period or for Origin bans to only affect representative matches rather than club games have been reignited in light of this debacle.
