The NRL's top medical honcho has declared that Reuben Garrick was indeed concussed during his clash with the Roosters, causing Sea Eagles coach Anthony Seibold to question the ruling.
Despite Seibold's disbelief, the chief medical officer's review confirmed that Garrick experienced a "transient neurological disturbance" and had to be sidelined for his own safety.
Seibold expressed frustration after losing both Garrick and Jason Saab to head injuries in the high-scoring game at Allianz Stadium, forcing his team to bring in their 18th man.
This wasn't the first time Garrick had to sit out due to head knocks this season, but Seibold insisted that this particular incident was unique.
"Reuben Garrick is adamant that he wasn't concussed tonight," Seibold insisted, as the Sea Eagles prepare to take a breather during their bye week.
"He was shocked to be pulled off the field for assessment.
The Bunker's doctor mentioned a small stumble, and just like that, we were down a player for the rest of the match."
As Garrick lamented his misfortune, Seibold couldn't help but feel the sting of losing a key player in the heat of battle.
With the Sea Eagles on the sidelines this week, they'll have time to regroup and recalibrate before diving back into the fray.
