After a tumultuous 2024 NRL season riddled with injuries, North Queensland Cowboys outside back Robert Derby has inked a new long-term deal with the club.

The folks at zerotackle.com have the scoop.

Having emerged from the club's Young Guns program to earn a spot in the NRL squad, Derby may have only seen action on the field once, but he's seen as a rising star set to make his mark in the team's back-line this season.

In a thrilling twist of fate, Derby delighted his local fans in the squad's inaugural pre-season showdown, sealing the deal to stick around until the conclusion of the 2028 NRL season.

A seasoned seven-time PNG international with six tries under his belt for his home country, Derby shone in the 2024 Pacific Championships, helping his team secure victories over the Cook Islands and Fiji.

"Rob is a true North Queenslander, a product of the Cairns system who has dazzled at the Queensland Cup level, especially with the Northern Pride in 2024," shared Cowboys General Manager of Football, Micheal Luck.
