Storm Considering Player Trade for 2027

The Melbourne Storm are currently exploring options to offload one of their players to Super League clubs.

According to Love Rugby League, Lazarus Vaalepu, a front-rower, is available for the 2027 season and beyond.

He holds a contract with the NRL club until the conclusion of 2027.

Factors such as salary cap management and the desire to reconfigure their forward pack likely explain the Storm's decision to seek a new home for Vaalepu.

Standing at 6'3" and weighing 119 kilograms, he brings considerable size and strength to the game.

Vaalepu was a part of the squad that competed in the 2024 Grand Final, where they faced defeat against the Penrith Panthers, contributing as a bench player.

Since then, he has predominantly played in the NSW Cup for the Melbourne Storm.

Despite the Storm's struggles at the bottom of the NSW Cup ladder, Vaalepu has managed to average 100 running metres and 22.8 tackles per game, featuring for around 45 minutes each time in his 10 outings.

In 2025, he participated in four first-grade matches for the Storm but has not yet made an appearance for the team this season.
