Storm Revamps Pathways for Future Talent

The Storm have taken a new direction, enhancing their pathways programs significantly over the past two years.

Moving away from traditional relationships with feeder clubs such as the Brisbane Tigers and Sunshine Coast Falcons, they are now creating a comprehensive pathway system that extends from junior leagues to first-grade competitions.

As part of their strategic overhaul, the Storm is incorporating junior female teams into NSWRL competitions, aiming to establish elite pathways for both male and female athletes culminating in first-grade opportunities.

They have announced a partnership with Mounties Rugby League for the 2026 season, coinciding with the Storm's debut in the NSW Cup.

This collaboration offers Mounties players a chance to gain valuable experience within the Storm's newly structured pathways throughout the upcoming season.

The partnership was first showcased when Mounties Club Captain Joseph Tramontana participated in the Storm's NRL trial match against the Canberra Raiders.

Frank Ponissi, the Storm Football Director, shared insights on the importance of this new alliance.

"Mounties Rugby League has a strong reputation for developing players and fostering high standards. We see this as a valuable alignment that will support emerging talent and strengthen the pathways system for years to come," Ponissi stated.

"This partnership will support the new team in the 2026 NSW Cup competition by providing excellent opportunities for players not selected to play, with a strong club in the Ron Massey Cup."
