The Australian Kangaroos are experiencing some turbulence in their coaching lineup, with one of their assistant coaches confirming his departure from the international squad.
Michael Hagan, a seasoned assistant coach for the Kangaroos, has called time on his 14-year stint with Australia after working alongside Mal Meninga during the 2023 Pacific Championships.
Hagan, a proud member of the Newcastle Knights Hall of Fame since 2012, has a coaching background that includes guiding the Knights (2001-06), Parramatta Eels (2007-08), and the QLD Maroons (2004-05) to sporting glory.
With a winning percentage of 53% in the NRL, Hagan played an instrumental role in steering the Knights to a Premiership victory in 2001 in his inaugural season as head coach.
"It's been a ripper journey, but it's time to tackle new challenges," Hagan remarked to The Newcastle Herald, reflecting on his decision to move on from his Kangaroos role.
