Coach Craig Bellamy Diagnosed with Disorder

Storm Coach Craig Bellamy looks on during a press conference

The Melbourne Storm has revealed that their head coach, Craig Bellamy, has been diagnosed with a form of neurodegenerative disorder.

Recently, Bellamy, 66, has undergone numerous tests and met with various specialists, as confirmed by the club on Thursday evening.

"Over recent weeks, in consultation with specialists, Craig has undergone a series of medical tests and has since been diagnosed with a form of neurodegenerative disorder," stated the Melbourne Storm.

Fortunately, he is receiving high-quality medical care and has been assured by specialists that his condition will not affect his coaching capabilities in the near term.

Currently, the Storm finds themselves on a disappointing six-match losing streak, marking the worst performance the club has seen since Bellamy took the helm in 2003.

Club chairman Matt Tripp expressed unwavering support for Bellamy's continued leadership.

"Despite the recent results, I firmly believe Craig is still coaching at an elite level and I have no doubt he is the right person to drive the club forward," Tripp remarked.

He added, "Craig has the full support of the board, players, coaches, and staff to continue leading the club as he has done for the last 24 seasons."

Bellamy is scheduled to lead the Storm in their upcoming match against the Dolphins at Lang Park in Brisbane on Friday night.
