The Penrith Panthers have reportedly acquired a talented young playmaker from the Newcastle Knights, aligning with speculation that as many as 10 players might leave the defending champions during the upcoming off-season. According to Peter Lang from 'The Western Weekender', Haami Loza has agreed to join the Panthers.
At just 21 years old, Loza is well-regarded at the Knights and made his debut in the NSW Cup earlier this season. Lang stated, "Haami has plenty of potential and will no doubt thrive in the Penrith Panthers pathways system."
This signing follows the Panthers' recent acquisition of Keahn Skipps from the Canberra Raiders. Skipps served as captain of the Raiders' Jersey Flegg Cup team at the Under-19 level and is also highly rated. Both Skipps and Loza will benefit from the guidance of star Panthers halfback Nathan Cleary, with Lang predicting that they will soon vie for a spot in the first grade.

In a broader view, the Panthers seem to be focusing on replenishing their junior talent while simultaneously letting go of some fringe first-graders. Although Cleary has a contract that extends until the end of 2027, there has been ongoing speculation regarding a potential move closer to his UK-based girlfriend, Mary Fowler.
With the additions of Skipps and Loza, the four-time defending premiers are developing significant depth in the halves. Blaize Talagi has emerged as a promising five-eighth for 2025, and young player Jack Cole is under contract until the end of 2026.
Additionally, Lang reported on Tuesday that several members of the Panthers' top-30 squad are exploring new opportunities. Back-up playmaker Brad Schneider has already signed with the Dolphins for 2026, while outside back Asu Kepaoa is set to move to the Knights. Mavrik Geyer has signed with the Wests Tigers, and fullback Daine Laurie has been informed that his contract will not be renewed.
