Brad Arthur, the head coach for Leeds Rhinos, has apparently confirmed the club's pursuit of Braden Uele, the Cronulla Sharks forward who is currently off-contract.
According to reports from Love Rugby League, the Rhinos are on the lookout for a suitable replacement for Mikołaj Olędzki, who is heading to the Perth Bears.
Uele, a Samoan and Kiwi international, is being eyed to fill the gap left by Olędzki.
Since debuting for the North Queensland Cowboys in 2017, Uele has amassed 134 NRL appearances, and still has much to offer if he opts for a move to the Northern Hemisphere.
Arthur has mentioned that discussions have occurred between Uele's management and club sporting director Ian Blease regarding a potential switch to Super League for the 2027 season.
"I don't at the moment," Arthur said in response to inquiries about Uele's potential transfer, as reported by All Out Rugby League.
"I've had conversations with Ian Blease; he's been back and forth with his manager."
"It's just with Bleasey and his manager at the moment. I don't have much more to share on that."
Uele, who has represented the Junior Kiwis and made dual international test appearances, has made a mark as a formidable middle forward during his time at the Sharks, contributing to over 130 appearances in team colors.
Interestingly, Uele's brother, Caleb, plays for Wakefield Trinity, which could influence his decision to move to England.
