Nathan Merritt, the former South Sydney star, suffered a shock collapse over the weekend, prompting concern from his loved ones.

However, there has been a positive update on his condition, with reports stating that it has "slightly improved." Despite this improvement, Merritt remains in a serious condition and is currently hospitalized.

It is believed that Merritt collapsed while visiting his auntie's house in Sydney and was found unresponsive.

It has been revealed that the collapse was likely due to a serious adverse reaction to prescribed pain medication.

Unfortunately, the incident has had an impact on Merritt's organs, as reported by News Corp on Sunday.

However, there is some good news to share as well.

According to the Daily Telegraph, Merritt's lung capacity has increased and his internal swelling has decreased, thanks to the support of his family and friends.

Although he still has a long road to recovery, these improvements are a positive sign for Merritt and his loved ones.
