Cronulla Sharks forward Jesse Colquhoun faces uncertainty ahead of this weekend's matchup against the Dolphins in Brisbane as he was sent home from Sydney Airport after experiencing knee issues.
According to a report by News Corp, Colquhoun arrived at the airport with his teammates but his knee was notably iced.
Instead of joining his teammates inside, he opted to head straight to the ride-sharing area, presumably to return home for further medical evaluation.
Details surrounding the injury remain ambiguous, but there is some optimism from Cronulla officials that Colquhoun may still join the team for the upcoming game, possibly traveling after his peers.
It is known that the 24-year-old prop has been dealing with a knee issue throughout the week, despite training on Thursday.
What remains puzzling is why he traveled to the airport if he was in such condition, requiring scans and having ice on his knee.
Colquhoun, who recently re-signed with the Sharks, is anticipated to become a key player as the club's long-term lock forward after Cameron McInnes departs at season's end.
Throughout his career, he has participated in 44 NRL games, totaling 15 this season alone.
In those matches, he recorded 3 tries, achieved 15 tackle breaks, 8 offloads, and averaged 107 meters per game, boasting a tackle efficiency of 97 percent.
