Josh Papali'i, affectionately known as Big Papa, has become a legend in the eyes of Canberra Raiders fans, and rightly so.

The towering forward has been a stalwart in the team since his teenage years and is now on the brink of making his 300th appearance for the club.

Former Raiders captain and club great, Alan Tongue, recalls the early days when Papali'i first burst onto the scene back in 2011.

Tongue remembers how even the team celebrations or post-match debriefs would have to wait as Big Papa took the time to connect with his loyal supporters, signing autographs and taking selfies until every last fan had their moment.

It's moments like these that showcase the bond between player and fan, the heart and soul of Rugby League.

Papali'i's dedication to the Green Machine has earned him a place in Raiders folklore, a true people's champion who embodies the spirit of the game.

With his passion for the sport and unwavering commitment to the club, it's no wonder that Big Papa is revered by all who bleed green.
