The future of Brad Fittler's son in rugby remains uncertain following his lack of a contract with the NSW Waratahs for 2027.
Recently, the Sydney-based club faced the loss of Leo Jacques to the Cronulla Sharks, raising concerns about potentially losing another promising player as NRL teams eye the Fittler surname.
With Angus Crichton expected to secure one centre position for 2027 and Joseph-Aukuso Suaalii likely to take the other, Zach Fittler's chances appear slim as the club deliberates on his extension.
This month, Fittler represented Australia in the World Rugby Junior World Championship in Georgia and is expected to return to club rugby soon.
NSW's performance director BJ Mather informed the Daily Telegraph that discussions regarding Fittler's future at the club are "still being worked through," amidst rising competition from affluent European clubs and the allure of league.
Despite Zach's father's celebrated legacy in league, sources suggest that he genuinely enjoys union, making a transition to the NRL seem improbable.
Zach previously participated in junior reps with the Sydney Roosters but made the decision to pursue professional development in the 15-man game and has yet to debut in Super Rugby.
"We're not exactly sure where he's going to land at the moment, but obviously he's a player with big potential," remarked Easts Rugby coach Ben Batger to News Corp.
"I think he does want to stay (in union) because he is just getting better and better.
