In a twist of fate that could be likened to a high-stakes game of Rugby League, Troy Xerri, brother of NRL sensation Bronson Xerri, finds himself back in the slammer after a tumultuous year that would rival even the most intense match-up.
According to a report by news.com.au, Xerri had his parole revoked less than a year after being released from Macquarie Correctional Centre, where he had served two years and four months for a tragic incident that claimed the life of a mother-of-three.
The 32-year-old had been cruising through northwestern Sydney in his Toyota HiLux on that fateful day in November 2019, only to lose control and veer onto the wrong side of Blaxland Road in Eastwood.
The result? A devastating head-on collision with Joanne Duke's hatchback, which tragically ended the life of the 63-year-old mother.
In a sporting analogy that could be likened to a player taking a hard hit on the field, Xerri's passenger, Michael Nader, also suffered injuries in the crash and had to be hospitalized for a week for head injuries and back pain.
This turn of events serves as a harsh reminder of the consequences of reckless actions, mirroring the highs and lows that can often be experienced in the rough and tumble world of Rugby League.
It's a tale that highlights the importance of making wise choices and playing by the rules, on and off the field.
