Match Report: NRL Round 26 vs Raiders
Wests Tigers faced a defeat, losing 24-10 to the Raiders at GIO Stadium in Round 26.
Canberra initially had chances to score, but Wests Tigers' players Starford To'a and Latu Fainu made two impressive one-on-one steals to prevent them from capitalizing.
The Raiders eventually opened the scoring when Sunia Turuva mishandled a high kick from Jamal Fogarty in the 18th minute, allowing Jed Stuart to score from the ensuing play.
However, the Tigers responded just eight minutes later: Jarome Luai found a gap for Samuela Fainu, who then passed to Jahream Bula, letting him score under the posts and equalizing the match at 6-6.
Corey Horsburgh restored the Raiders' lead when he broke through the Tigers' defense shortly thereafter. Still, Wests Tigers displayed resilience.
Luai maintained his impressive performance, showcasing his darting footwork to assist Tony Sukkar in setting up Jeral Skelton for another Wests Tigers try.
By halftime, the score was 12-10 in favor of the Raiders, who further increased their advantage with a try from Simi Sasagi in the 46th minute.
Despite a lull in scoring for most of the second half, the Wests Tigers demonstrated tenacity in defense, repeatedly repelling the Raiders' attacks.
