Walker Suspended After Costly Incident

The MRC has issued a suspension to South Sydney's captain Cody Walker following a heated Friday night match.

Walker faces a one-to-two-match ban due to a Grade 2 Contrary Conduct charge, which marks a disappointing ending to his night during the Rabbitohs' 36-14 loss to the Penrith Panthers.

If he pleads guilty early, he will miss one game; however, a failed challenge could extend his absence to two matches, making his moment of misbehavior a critical factor in the game's outcome.

South Sydney was already struggling after Dylan Edwards scored within the first 10 minutes, giving Penrith an early 6-0 lead.

However, the Rabbitohs seemed to have turned things around when rookie winger Dayne Jennings appeared to score his initial NRL try.

Unfortunately, a bunker review showed Walker had kicked Panthers halfback Jack Cogger while playing the ball seconds earlier.

This unnecessary act stemmed from Walker's visible frustration and turned out to be detrimental for both him and his team.

The try was disallowed, resulting in a 10-minute sin bin for Walker, giving Penrith the opportunity to capitalize, scoring just two minutes later.

After the game, Walker expressed genuine remorse and took full accountability for his actions.

"It just wasn't good enough," Walker said.
