Josh McCrone, a former playmaker in the NRL, has officially retired from rugby league. Known for his time with the Canberra Raiders and St George Illawarra Dragons, McCrone played his last NRL match in 2017. Over his career, he participated in 133 games for the Raiders from 2009 to 2015, later joining the Dragons where he added 28 more matches to his record between 2016 and 2017.

During his career, McCrone received notable accolades, including being named the 2015 NSW Cup Five-Eighth of the Year and representing Country Origin three times. He also had a stint with the Toronto Wolfpack in the Super League, where he contributed 43 points in 40 games across three seasons.

In his most recent chapter, McCrone played for the Temora Dragons in the Group 9 competition, leading the team to the finals before facing elimination against the Young Cherrypickers in the minor semi-final.

"Today's loss marks the end of a long and successful career for the guy Josh McCrone," the club stated. "Josh has been the heart and soul of the club, and will leave a massive hole both on and off the field. It is tough to put into words what he has done for the Dragons."
