As the Bulldogs and Raiders gear up for a crucial match in Canberra, the nostalgic vibe harkens back to their 1994 grand final encounter.

The Raiders, captained by Mal Meninga, were in pursuit of their third title within six years, following victories in 1989 and 1990.

The Bulldogs, on the other hand, had dominated the 1980s with four premierships, with their last victory in 1988 over Balmain, led by Peter Tunks.

Entering Round 10 of the 2025 season, Canterbury is currently in first place, while Canberra holds the second position.

This marks a significant milestone, as it's been over thirty years since both teams were ranked 1-2 on the ladder, a scenario last seen in Round 11 of 1994, leading up to their grand final at the Sydney Football Stadium.

In that memorable match, Meninga played his final game, kicking off to the Bulldogs' goal line.

The Bulldogs allowed the ball to bounce, and prop Martin Bella's attempt to recover ended in a knock-on, granting Canberra an early edge.
