Mataele Joins Manly Sea Eagles After 2026

Emerging Parramatta Eels forward Toni Mataele has officially declared his departure from the club, set for the conclusion of the 2026 NRL season.

He has secured a two-year contract with the Manly Sea Eagles, marking a return to his former team from the Harold Matthew Cup.

This agreement will extend through at least the end of 2028, promising significant playtime for the talented forward.

The potential retirement of Siosiua Taukeiaho, coupled with the uncertain future of Jake Trbojevic and Nathan Brown's forthcoming exit, could create openings in Manly's forward lineup.

Head coach Kieran Foran expressed his enthusiasm, stating, "Toni is a young, athletic prop who will add quality, depth and aggression to the pack."

"We look forward to welcoming Toni and his family back to the Sea Eagles at the end of this season."

Mataele previously showcased his skills in the 2018 Harold Matthew Cup grand final with Manly against the Eels, playing alongside future stars like Tolutau Koula and Kaeo Weekes.

While Parramatta aimed to keep him, the opportunities in Manly's roster proved to be more appealing.

As the Eels navigate the futures of players Junior Paulo and Jack de Belin, they are undergoing a significant transformation within their forward pack.

The club has also confirmed the departure of Dylan Walker to the English Super League following this season.
