Broncos CEO Backs Coach Amid Struggles

Brisbane Broncos CEO Dave Donaghy has stepped up in defense of head coach Michael Maguire, dismissing speculation about his potential departure at the season's end.

This season has been turbulent for the Broncos, currently lingering in the bottom four with a record of five wins and eleven losses in 2026.

Several factors have contributed to their struggles, including the abrupt exit of former assistant coach Ben Te'o, off-field issues involving key players, and a series of injuries that have stymied their performance.

The team has been missing several key players throughout the season, and the Broncos' core has had difficulties staying healthy, which has tested the squad's depth repeatedly.

Regardless of the challenging circumstances, Donaghy remains optimistic about Maguire's ability to turn things around next season, aiming to wipe the unfortunate events of 2026 from memory.

"You can quote me on this ... Madge will be the coach," he asserted in an interview with CODE Sports.

"We signed Madge on a three-year deal."

"We had an amazing experience last year, but as a club, we always felt this was going to be a three-year exercise to get us to the place where we're consistently pushing for sustainable success."

"For a long time this club has been up and down."
