The Dolphins' coach, Kristian Woolf, has lauded his team's determination following their 30-22 victory over the Canberra Raiders on a chilly evening in the capital.
This triumph marks the franchise's first-ever four consecutive wins, positioning the Redcliffe-based team as a formidable contender heading into September.
Despite the absence of four key players due to State of Origin duties, including Hamiso Tabuai-Fidow, Selwyn Cobbo, Max Plath, and Thomas Flegler, the Dolphins excelled in their crucial matchup against the Raiders.
The Dolphins have the most representatives from the Sunshine State among all Queensland clubs, showcasing their strong roster and impressive recruitment since their inaugural season began in 2023.
Adding to their challenges, star center Herbie Farnworth and five-eighth Kodi Nikorima were sidelined with hamstring injuries, which makes their victory against the Raiders even more commendable.
Woolf commended his players, elevating them to a temporary sixth place on the ladder.
"I just thought we were really tough. Probably could have been a little bit smarter in that second half. We sort of allowed it to become a little bit scrappy and we just looked like we wanted to, there's no doubt in the effort and the desire to win, but we just looked like we thought we had to win it quickly," Woolf remarked during the post-match press conference.
"What I loved is just the way we hung in and defended the line there at the end, and everything you want to see in your footy team."
"You got a lot of spirit, a lot of desire to win for each other and play for each other and it's a great win for the club."
