The future of the New Zealand Warriors' halfback is secured as the club has officially signed star playmaker Tanah Boyd to a new three-year contract extending through 2029.
This extension comes in the wake of a severe setback for the 25-year-old, who unfortunately sustained an ACL injury during the Magic Round, sidelining him for the rest of the 2026 season.
Boyd had become a crucial figure in the Warriors' campaign, stepping up to the first-choice halfback position following the injuries of Luke Metcalf.
His impressive performances prompted a shift for Metcalf to the five-eighth position, while Metcalf began considering a transfer to secure a permanent halfback position with the St. George Illawarra Dragons for next season.
Over the course of 10 games in 2026, Boyd managed to score three tries, kick 40 goals, and averaged 486 kick metres per match, proving himself to be a promising long-term asset in the Warriors' halves.
"It has been a devastating week for Tanah, but this is just reward for what he has done so far and for the belief we have in him for the next three seasons," noted Andrew McFadden, the One New Zealand Warriors general manager for recruitment, pathways, and development.
"After being signed as a quality player with significant experience, he has made tremendous progress to sit alongside the NRL's leading playmakers."
Warriors coach Andrew Webster also commended Boyd's resilience and professionalism following the injury.
"We're all feeling for Tanah, but we're so happy knowing we'll have him here for another three years," Webster expressed.
