NSW Blues and Sydney Roosters back-rower Angus Crichton has reportedly ruled out transferring to rival clubs, casting uncertainty on his future in the 13-man code beyond next season.

As one of the prime players currently able to negotiate with teams for the 2027 NRL season, Crichton's situation remains unclear. He has yet to re-sign with the Roosters and is facing speculation regarding a potential switch to the 15-man code.

The Sydney Morning Herald now reports that Crichton has informed his management of his decision to refrain from signing with any other NRL team, including the Perth Bears, stating that he has no desire to compete against the Roosters.

This announcement serves as a positive development for the Roosters, who have recently acquired Origin representatives Daly Cherry-Evans and Reece Robson, in addition to Reuben Garrick from the Manly Sea Eagles for the 2027 season.

Despite this clarity regarding local team moves, the publication notes that Crichton remains focused on transitioning to rugby union at the conclusion of the 2026 NRL season, when his current contract expires.

Although there were previous links to the now-delayed R360 competition, the primary motivator behind his code switch appears to be the aspiration to participate in the 2027 Rugby World Cup, which will take place in Australia.
