Bulldogs Captain's Injury Update: Relief Amidst Concern

Phil Gould, the Bulldogs' chief, has shared insights into the alarming incident involving skipper Stephen Crichton during Saturday's match.

Following a late tackle from the Raiders, Crichton was left motionless on the ground, eliciting concern across the rugby league community for the star player.

Fortunately, Crichton was cleared to return to Bulldogs training, thankfully avoiding serious injury after the team's 40-16 defeat to the Canberra Raiders.

The 25-year-old is surprisingly listed among the reserves for the upcoming crucial match against the Tigers, though his availability remains uncertain.

Gould discussed the frightening moment when Crichton collapsed on Saturday, providing some encouraging news about the Bulldogs' hopes for September's Top 8.

"I just think the way that he was hit there was an extension of his arm, pulled down, maybe stretched the nerve a little bit there, and he got numbness and a burn down his arm, and he went down," Gould shared during an episode of Wide World of Sports' Six Tackles with Gus.

"When the doctor got out there, and he [Crichton] explained his symptoms to the doctor, the doctor said 'don't move', and he said 'no, I'll get up, I'm OK' and the doctor said 'don't move'… that's when they put him on the medi-cab."

Gould added that Crichton was "up and walking" shortly after leaving the field and even inquired about being included in the squad for their game against the Tigers.

Considering Crichton's injury struggles this year, the Bulldogs are likely to adopt a cautious strategy, ensuring he is well taken care of for now.
