NRL legend Geoff 'Wild Man' Robinson passes away

In a devastating blow to the Rugby League community, the iconic Canterbury Bulldogs legend Geoff 'Wild Man' Robinson has passed away at the age of 66.

Known for his fearless and aggressive playing style, Robinson was a cult hero of the 1980s era.

Having played 139 first grade games for the Bulldogs between 1977 and 1984, Robinson left a lasting legacy in the sport.

Despite facing a long battle with throat cancer, it was ultimately a heart attack that claimed the life of this beloved enforcer.

Famous for his flowing black locks and daring charges down the field at the bustling Belmore Sports Ground, Robinson's career highlights included three grand finals and premiership wins in 1980 and 1984.

Described as a true gentleman and a loyal friend, Robinson's impact on the game and the people around him was immeasurable.

"Geoff was a true legend of the game, and his presence on the field was always felt," reminisced his close friend and Bulldogs sponsor Arthur Laundy.

"His passion for the sport was unmatched, and he will be dearly missed by all who knew him."
