Adam Doueihi learns fate at NRL judiciary
Wests Tigers player Adam Doueihi has been cleared to participate this weekend after being found not guilty of a careless high tackle at the NRL judiciary on Tuesday evening.
Doueihi was unexpectedly charged with a Grade 2 careless high tackle following the club's unfortunate defeat to the Canterbury Bulldogs last Saturday.
During the match, he was not penalized for the incident; however, he was placed on report soon after, as he made high contact with Canterbury forward Harry Hayes.
Facing a potential one-match suspension with an early guilty plea, Doueihi risked an extra match by attending the NRL judiciary for his case.
Fortunately, he successfully presented his argument, and video replays suggested that he made contact just above the foot, which worked in his favor.
Ultimately, Doueihi will incur a fine for a Grade 1 offense, and because it is a first offense on his record, the fine is only $1,000.
On Tuesday afternoon, he was included in the reserves by coach Benji Marshall, but it is anticipated that he will be reinstated to the team.
Young player Javon Andrews had previously been assigned the number seven jersey for the upcoming match against the Canberra Raiders, but he may now have to wait longer to make his debut.
With the Tigers facing a challenging losing streak for the past two and a half months, Marshall will have to make strategic choices during selection, even though Doueihi has not been a major contributor to the team's struggles due to injury.
