St. Helens climbed to the top of the Super League by defeating Huddersfield Giants 26-18 on Thursday.
The visitors established a commanding lead with four tries in the first half, courtesy of Harry Robertson, Lewis Murphy, Owen Dagnall, and George Delaney, making it 24-0 at halftime.
Huddersfield showed resilience in the second half, scoring through Asher O'Donnell, Adam Swift, and Niall Evalds, but they ultimately fell short, marking their ninth defeat this season and keeping them at the bottom of the table.
"So it was an ugly second half but credit to Huddersfield for fighting back and showing some heart to get back in it and get us nervous at the end."
This match marked the last for interim coach Liam Finn, who took over in March and saw an initial mini-resurgence.
However, with four consecutive league losses, the team now faces a difficult relegation battle as they await Jim Lenihan's arrival next week.
