Warrington Wolves centre Toby King joined The Bench rugby league podcast with Jenna Brooks and Jon Wilkin this week, discussing his triumphant return to the team after a season-long loan at Wigan Warriors.
King shared how the experience helped him rediscover his form and confidence during the intense 2024 Betfred Super League season.
Reflecting on his time at Wigan, King expressed gratitude for the opportunity and the belief the club instilled in him.
"It's surreal, being told you're not wanted, then being asked to spend another year somewhere else," King shared on Sky Sports' The Bench podcast.
"Wigan took me on, and it was a perfect fit.
I'm forever grateful for the experience.
It was a solid 12 months, and I can see the influence of their championship-winning team.
They have a tight-knit group, just like we do at Warrington.
We're trying to replicate their success."
King praised Wigan's style of play and the talented individuals within the team who can turn a match around in an instant.
"They've got some special players in there who can win them games at any moment," he noted.
Despite initially dreading his return to Warrington, King found common ground with his teammates and highlighted similarities between former England captain Sam Burgess and Wigan coach Matt Peet.
The 28-year-old now feels at home with the Wolves and is determined to contribute to their success on the field.
