Flanagan Faces Dismissal as Dragons' Coach

Shane Flanagan is on the verge of being dismissed as the head coach of St George Illawarra due to the Dragons' winless start in the NRL season.

The team, currently sitting at the bottom of the standings, has summoned a press conference for Monday morning at their headquarters in Wollongong, where the anticipated announcement will be made.

Before Saturday's 30-12 defeat against South Sydney, the Dragons were already grappling with the longest losing streak in their history, reaching 11 losses consecutively.

Flanagan's exit appears imminent, coming less than nine months after the club granted him a two-year contract extension, following his success in leading the team to the 2016 premiership.

Since the extension was issued, the Dragons have secured only one victory, with his new contract projected to kick off in 2027.

His tenure is characterized by a 35 per cent win rate, having won 19 out of 55 matches since taking the helm for the 2024 season.

This pivotal decision is made just days ahead of the Dragons' most crucial game of the regular season-the traditional Anzac Day match against the Sydney Roosters.
