Daley Exits NSW Blues Coaching Role

Craig Bellamy has decided to resign from his coaching position.

In a surprising turn of events, Melbourne Storm's head coach Laurie Daley has stepped away from his role as a coaching advisor for the NSW Blues.

Daley, who resumed coaching the Blues for a second time last year, took over after Michael Maguire departed from the position, following just one year of coaching the Brisbane Broncos.

A key factor in Daley's acceptance by the NSWRL board was the support of Bellamy, often regarded as one of the top coaches in the sport, during a previous unsuccessful tenure.

However, according to a report by News Corp, Bellamy has chosen to withdraw from this advisory role for the upcoming 2026 series, following the Blues' disappointing finish in 2025.

This is despite the Blues securing a victory in Game 1 of the series, which took place in rival territory.

Currently, there has been no announcement regarding who will fill Bellamy's position, and sources indicate that the current losing streak of the Storm is unrelated to his decision, which was made several weeks ago.

Bellamy's Storm is experiencing its longest losing streak, having dropped six consecutive games, and currently holds the worst ranking in its history after a significant loss to the South Sydney Rabbitohs.

With only two wins from eight games this year, Melbourne likely needs to clinch at least ten victories in their final 16 matches to have a shot at the finals.

During his NSW role, Bellamy participated in training camps when the Storm had a bye and sat with Daley in the coaches' box on game nights.
