Wendell Sailor retires from Triple M 'effective immediately' in shock move

In a move that has left fans shook like a big hit on the rugby field, Wendell Sailor has announced his retirement from Triple M "effective immediately." The dual football international and rugby league great has been a fixture on the Sydney drive show, The Rush Hour with Gus, Jude & Wendell, where he shared the mic with Gus Worland and Swan legend Jude Bolton.

Known for his insightful commentary and larger-than-life personality, Sailor has been a valuable member of the network's team since 2015.

However, after announcing his plans to take a step back from live broadcasting at the end of the season, the big man surprised everyone by deciding to hang up the microphone altogether.

Turning the big 5-0 earlier in the week might have played a part in Sailor's decision, but regardless, his retirement marks the end of an era for Triple M and rugby league fans alike.

Wherever Wendell goes next, one thing's for sure - he'll always be a legend of the game.

Cheers to you, Dell.
