Harry Wilson scored twice in Australia's 38-22 comeback win over South Africa last year, the Wallabies' first victory at Ellis Park in 62 years.
The result boosts Australia's confidence, Wilson said, but the team must be ready from the opening whistle in Sunday night's Test at Optus Stadium in Perth.
In-form lock Josh Canham will miss the match with a hamstring injury after training fully on Friday before pulling up sore.
His availability for the upcoming Bledisloe Cup series against the All Blacks is also in doubt.
"It's always a big loss when you lose your line-out caller and someone like Canham, who's been playing some really good footy for us," Wilson said on Saturday morning.
Coach Les Kiss has promoted Lukhan Salakaia-Loto to the starting side and added Lachlan Shaw to the bench.
Jeremy Williams will call the line-out, a role he has performed in international matches, Wilson noted.
Wilson said Salakaia-Loto brings physicality, though he may not match Canham's jumping ability.
"I know how excited he is and he's been raring to go and he might not offer Canham's jumping ability but, gee whiz, he can offer some other stuff around the field," Wilson said.
Wilson said Australia had studied South Africa's recent four Tests against the All Blacks and noted the Springboks still have 10 World Cup winners despite making several changes.
