Billy Walters has firmed up his future with Brisbane by signing a two-year contract extension, ensuring he will remain with the Broncos until the conclusion of the 2028 season.

This new agreement comes as a source of relief for Walters after enduring a tough period this year, largely spent recovering from a serious knee injury.

His ACL injury occurred during Brisbane's qualifying final win against Canberra last year, cutting short a season in which he significantly contributed to the Broncos' 2025 premiership run.

Following an extensive rehabilitation, he made his return to the NRL in Round 21, now poised to reclaim his spot in the team with his future at Red Hill assured.

Before his injury, Walters had one of his best seasons in 2025, scoring seven tries, assisting eight more, and playing a crucial defensive role.

Walters expressed that staying in Brisbane was particularly meaningful to him, especially given the trust the club showed throughout his recovery.

"Brisbane is home for me and I'm really grateful to the Club for the belief they've shown in me, especially after the injury I had last year," Walters stated.

He initially debuted in the NRL with Melbourne in 2019, spent two years with the Wests Tigers, and eventually returned to Brisbane, becoming a regular first grader.

Having surpassed 100 appearances for the Broncos, he has turned into a seasoned player in a squad undergoing significant changes since last year's premiership victory.

Retaining Walters brings stability to the hooker position and flexibility in the halves after a disappointing title defense this season.

With his long-term future now clarified, Walters can focus on finishing the 2026 season strongly while aiming to assist the Broncos' comeback next year.
