Pat Carrigan and Payne Haas spoke to the press ahead of Brisbane's final match of the 2026 season on Thursday night in Sydney.
This game against the Bulldogs will mark Haas' 159th and final outing for the Broncos before he joins South Sydney and Wayne Bennett next season.
"I'm just trying to enjoy the week for what it is," Haas said.
"(This year has) been disappointing, obviously I wanted it to be better but it's happened now, so just trying to enjoy each other's company for one last week."
The 26-year-old was hesitant to discuss his reasons for leaving the club after nine seasons. He did mention that he has not participated in the internal review concerning the Broncos' struggling premiership defense under coach Michael Maguire.
"To be honest I've had no input into that (review)," Haas stated, declining to comment on the difficulties faced by the 2025 NRL champions this year.
When asked about life without Haas in the Broncos pack, Carrigan expressed his strong feelings for his teammate.
"Personally he's one of my best mates," Carrigan said.
"We came through as kids here, we've been through a lot of adversity and grown on and off the field together… the relationship will extend long past these four walls.
"I'm disappointed (he's leaving), but that's life."
