Michael Maguire has emerged from the club's internal assessment of their disappointing 2026 season, but next year, the Broncos coach may only have ten weeks to show improvement.
Following a rough season, both Maguire and the club are under considerable scrutiny, with a comprehensive review calling for 14 changes, yet the head coach retains his position.
Brent Read from CODE Sports reported that Maguire and the Broncos must hit the ground running in 2027, or the two-time premiership-winning coach could find himself in a precarious situation.
"The most significant part of (the review) Braith is that the coach isn't under pressure and perhaps we all thought that the review would show there's pressure on the coach," Read noted during NRL360.
"Madge is going to start next season the way I see it and will be given the opportunity to turn things around at the club and if he can't, then after ten weeks or so, they've got a decision to make."
On Monday, Broncos CEO Dave Donaghy addressed the media about the review, including inquiries regarding Maguire's prospects.
Donaghy expressed that he would "love" for Maguire to remain the club's coach for the long term, although he stopped short of making any commitments.
"We'll have those discussions behind closed doors," Donaghy added.
"I've always said I'd love for Madge to be a long-term coach.
"It's certainly been a challenging year on many different fronts and there's been some things that have been in the control and some things that have been outside of the control."
