Jarome Luai's dedication to the PNG Chiefs is again making headlines after he surprised some Tigers officials by appearing at a golf tournament in Port Moresby over the weekend.
This season, the Tigers standout has been busy balancing his commitments with the Chiefs, recently revealing his role as the face of Pepsi in PNG.
Luai was seen with PNG Prime Minister James Marape and Australian golfer Josh Armstrong, who recently achieved his first PGA of Australasia challenger victory at the PNG Open.
"I love golf," Luai shared while representing Pepsi PNG as its new brand ambassador, according to The National.
"I've got a big love for golf so it's good to see all the diverse cultures, corporates, and it's just a great day for PNG and I'm happy to be a part of it."
Code Sports reporter Brent Read mentioned on NRL 360 that Luai had received medical clearance from the Tigers' staff and is set to compete on Sunday against the Panthers.
He also indicated that Luai, along with all Tigers players, was given two days off due to a lengthy turnaround before facing Penrith.
In contrast, seasoned rugby league journalist Dean Ritchie expressed his disapproval of Luai's appearance, labeling it a "disgrace."
