Terrell May has shared insights about his near return to Penrith, explaining that a meeting with Panthers CEO Matt Cameron ultimately led him to step away from the club he once called home.
During a conversation on Josh Mansour's The Unscripted Show podcast, the Wests Tigers prop discussed various pivotal moments in his career, including the negotiations that thwarted a possible reunion with the Panthers.
May, recognized as one of the NRL's standout front-rowers, has been on the cusp of State of Origin selection for the past two years. He expressed lingering frustration toward the Roosters following his departure from the club at the end of 2024.
"I did kind of when they first let me go because it was a weird one," May remarked.
The 26-year-old further revealed that he had come close to leaving the Panthers earlier in his career, but the club encouraged him to remain.
"I was about to sign with Parra mid-year, and they were like 'nah, stay, we got something lined up for you to be happy with your brothers'," he explained.
Sadly, that promise never came to fruition.
After declining a demotion to St Mary's during the U20's season, May left the Penrith system in 2019 and joined the Roosters, where he made his NRL debut in 2022.
He successfully established himself as a contemporary first-grader for the tri-colours before moving to the Tigers ahead of the 2025 season.
