The Manly Sea Eagles have offered Brandon Wakeham a two-year contract extension in recognition of his impressive performance during the 2026 season.
After signing a train-and-trial deal in 2024 as a second chance for his career, the club has acknowledged his contributions with a much-deserved salary increase, as reported by the Daily Telegraph.
Wakeham, originally a playmaking half from the juniors, has made a remarkable shift to the nine position for the Sea Eagles, becoming an integral part of the team during the initial months of the year.
Enhancing his versatility, both he and Jake Simpkin have recently played together, allowing Wakeham to adopt a playmaking forward role.
This past season, the 27-year-old returned to top-flight action in Round 2 against the Newcastle Knights after a three-year hiatus. He has since appeared in 10 matches while wearing maroon and white, proving essential to the team's offensive strength.
The supplementary deal awarded to him for 2026 ensures Wakeham's inclusion in the Sea Eagles' Top 30 roster.
His NRL journey began in 2019 with the Bulldogs, where he made 25 appearances. However, his transition to the Wests Tigers in 2022 was challenging, as he struggled to find a role as the primary playmaker at Belmore.
His time with the Tigers was less than ideal, resulting in 15 appearances and finishing last in 2023, before he embraced a fresh start on the Northern Beaches.
Under the new leadership of Kieran Foran as the long-term coach, the Sea Eagles are experiencing a positive shift following a rocky start to their season.
