York Knights Sign NRL Prop Blake Lawrie

St George Illawarra Dragons Training Session

Blake Lawrie's recent transfer marks a significant shift for both the player and the York Knights.

The former St George Illawarra Dragons prop has officially joined the Super League club after years with the Dragons, starting his career in 2017.

A key performer during the 2023 season, Lawrie averaged 135 running metres a game and maintained a remarkable tackling efficiency of 94 percent.

His outstanding play earned him the title of Supporters' Player of the Year at St George Illawarra.

However, with the Dragons undergoing a substantial roster overhaul, Lawrie's contract was not renewed.

He is set to join fellow NRL talents including Damien Cook, Tyrell Sloan, and others moving to the Super League.

Lawrie's playing time diminished throughout the season, contributing to his eventual departure.

In a statement from the York Knights, Lawrie expressed his enthusiasm about the opportunity to play in England.

His arrival coincides with the signing of another former NRL player, Cameron McInnes, from the Cronulla Sharks, strengthening the Knights' forward pack.
