Two days after rumors surfaced that the St George Illawarra Dragons are prepared to offer a substantial four-year contract to secure Keaon Koloamatangi, another NRL team has reportedly made the same offer as the competition for the forward's talent intensifies.
Following his recent international debut for Australia, Koloamatangi stands out as one of the top forwards available in the market. He has enjoyed a successful year, transitioning from the back-row to the middle of the field, entering what many consider the prime of his career.
As the competition escalates, The Sydney Morning Herald has indicated that the Parramatta Eels have also submitted a four-year contract in pursuit of Koloamatangi, just a day after they secured fullback Isaiah Iongi with a long-term deal that extends through to the end of the 2030 NRL season.
On another front, the Sydney Roosters have emerged as the latest club interested in the Rabbitohs' star, keeping an eye on developments as they brace for the anticipated departure of 2024 Brad Fittler Medallist Angus Crichton, who has ties to the 15-man code.
This situation escalated when the Dragons made a significant recruitment pitch, which included flying Koloamatangi to the club's facilities via helicopter as part of their efforts to entice him away from the Rabbitohs.
Additionally, Koloamatangi has drawn interest from the Canberra Raiders. Meanwhile, the Rabbitohs are making efforts to keep him on board as they aim for another premiership run, although they are unable to match the potential $5 million contract offers from competing clubs.
