Potential Coaching Changes for NSW Blues

Potential Candidates for NSW Blues Head Coaching Position

Recent developments have identified potential frontrunners for the head coaching position of the NSW Blues, pending Laurie Daley's official decision regarding his future.

There is strong speculation that Daley may resign following a successful series victory in 2026, during which he faced significant scrutiny throughout the three State of Origin clashes.

According to fresh reports from News Corp, assistant coaches Boyd Cordner and Matt King are leading candidates for the head coach position should Daley choose to step back.

Additionally, Penrith Panthers coach Ivan Cleary has been mentioned as a possible long-term solution after he announced his intention to step away from coaching in the mountains after the upcoming season.

Cleary has expressed interest in a representative coaching role, suggesting that Cordner or King could serve as interim replacements until a definitive decision is made.

Earlier this week, it was reported that Daley experienced a health scare, leading to rumors about him stepping down from the Blues.

However, the Canberra Raiders icon swiftly reassured fans, stating his health is stable and he will announce his decision at an appropriate time.

"I am not going to get into it today, but I haven't made any announcement yet," Daley shared on the Big Sports Breakfast.

"When I am ready, I will."
